Teach at OLLI!
Looking for teaching opportunities? Consider the University's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), offering a variety of instructor-driven topics to active adults age 50+ from the community. There are numerous opportunities for graduate students and postdocs to get involved. From a single session lecture to a seven-week series, OLLI offers a range of possibilities.
A learning community serving active older adults in the Twin Cities metro area, OLLI welcomes graduate students and postdocs to teach noncredit courses on a variety of topics to engaged learners. Instructors design their own courses around areas of interest, and courses are offered either in-person or via Zoom (instructor choice). There are no tests, no papers, or grades, just the joy of learning. OLLI offers a terrific opportunity to fulfill broader impact goals while gaining valuable teaching experience with an engaged audience.
Graduate students and postdocs can participate in a number of ways.
- As part of the OLLI Scholars Program, participants commit to teach a 7-week series, for which they earn a $1,000 stipend. Those interested in being an OLLI Scholar should complete the application for the winter or spring terms. Read personal stories of past OLLI Scholars
- Course Instructors volunteer to teach a course of their design, ranging from a single session to a series. Participants also are able to pair up with a colleague and team-teach. Those interested in participating as a course instructor should submit course proposals for the Monday, March 25-Friday, May 10, 2024 spring term by Friday, Dec. 1.
